Materials and care

Leather with steel letters and snap hardware. Wipe it down with a barely damp cloth and mild soap, then let it air dry away from radiators and direct sun. A little leather conditioner two or three times a year keeps it from drying out. Don't soak it, and dry the steel off so it doesn't spot.

Straight talk before you buy

This is an identification collar, not a restraint anchor. At 3/4 inch and a single layer of leather, it's built to be worn and read, not pulled on. If you want something you can clip a leash to and actually use, go heavier and look for a welded D-ring. New leather can also transfer a little dye onto very light clothing the first few wears, so give it a wipe before you pair it with a white shirt. Measure your neck before ordering; the snaps give you room to adjust, but they aren't unlimited.

Can I attach a leash to this collar?

We don't recommend it. There's no rated ring on it, and a 3/4 inch single-layer strap isn't made to take pulling. Use a wider, reinforced collar for anything with tension on it.

How do I know it will fit?

Run a soft tape around the base of your neck where the collar will sit, then add about an inch for comfort. The four snaps let you move between settings, so most average necks land somewhere in the middle of the range.

Is it comfortable enough to wear for a few hours?

For most people, yes. It's light and doesn't grab. The steel letters do rest against the skin, so if you're sensitive to metal or you're going to be moving a lot, keep it a notch looser than you think you need.
